The paintings you can see here are grouped into the series „Trees“. I’ve been working on these pieces since May 2013. They are divided into the following themes: Trees versus Architecture, Trees & Oriental motifs, Comic characters & Trees und Blue Trees. Additionally, there are series that show an identical motif in the same format from both a negative and a positive perspective and they are placed in ‚juxtaposition‘ (see pictures „Trees Series“).
My work is of experimental nature and include various elements to give the viewer the impression of illusion. I’ve also experimented with comics, oriental ornaments and architecture cross sections.
My pictures are painted exclusively on handcrafted paper. I like working with unique materials in oder to create unusual effects. Thereby each of my pieces are exceptional individualistic works of art.
These pieces are works which are executed primarily in water colour technique while also using acrylic and tusch brush technology. In my latest paintings I have deliberately avoided using backgrounds to give the impression of lightness and clarity; this also reduces the theme „Trees“ to a graphic but nevertheless picturesque level. In this way I attain a certain floating effect and lightness in the pictures. To achieve this style I’ve explored the art of Egon Schiele and the woodcuts of Albrecht Dȕrer. The intention to develop transparency is clearly recognisable in the way in which the gradual reduction of the dark background has been achieved.
